**Students are automatically reviewed for eligibility for the Midwest Student Exchange Program tuition at the time of review for admission. No additional application is needed.**
Please note that as of summer 2022, Illinois is no longer participating in the MSEP tuition program. Enrolled UWM students from Illinois on MSEP as of the 2021-2022 academic year (through summer 2022) and prior who remain continuously enrolled will continue to be eligible for the MSEP tuition rate through degree completion. Enrolled UWM students from Illinois as of the 2022-2023 academic year (through summer 2023) are eligible for a tuition rate equivalent to the MSEP tuition rate. Students must remain continuously enrolled to maintain their MSEP or MSEP-equivalent tuition rate eligibility through degree completion.
Please note that as of summer 2021, Michigan is no longer participating in the MSEP tuition program. Enrolled UWM students from Michigan on MSEP as of the 2020-2021 academic year (through spring 2021) and prior who remain continuously enrolled will continue to be eligible for the MSEP tuition rate through degree completion.
Students are eligible for any term in which they initially enroll if qualifying criteria is met. Courses can be taken on campus or online.
Qualifying criteria for new freshmen: Freshman MSEP applicants are expected to meet the same admission standards as Wisconsin applicants.
Note that academic preparation expectations vary from program to program, and some programs have additional requirements such as auditions or portfolio review. Factors considered in making the admission decision include the applicant's high school record, standardized test scores, and other relevant academic and nonacademic information. Each applicant will be given a comprehensive review with all factors considered.

- Second degree students, non-degree students, Flex degree students, and students admitted to a certificate program are not eligible.
Qualifying criteria for transfer students: Transfer students must have met all university admission requirements as well as any additional requirements specific to their desired academic program.

Qualifying criteria for Graduate students: Graduate students must have met all university admission requirements as well as any additional requirements specific to their desired academic program.
- MSEP began for graduate students enrolling in the Fall 2017 semester and following
- Full and part time students are eligible
- A permanent home address as a legal resident in a participating MSEP state
- Standalone certificate students and non-degree candidates are not eligible.

Once a student has been admitted, they will be automatically notified of eligibility as appropriate. Students will continue to receive MSEP benefits while enrolled at UWM, provided the following criteria are met:
- Maintain residency in a participating MSEP state
- Remain enrolled in a participating academic program (on campus or online)
- Students need to remain in good academic standing
Note: If a student's major changes to a NON-participating program, s/he will no longer be eligible to receive the benefits associated with participation in MSEP.
